6 Feb, 2010 Dubai Sports City uses "flexible, competitive and innovative" ticket pricing for Pakistan v England Twenty20 Intl

Lowest-priced tickets for opening match frozen at AED75; tickets for second match start from only AED50; Platinum Grandstand tickets set at AED500 (Friday) and AED400 (Saturday)

Dubai Sports City General Manager - Sports Business Maqbul Dudhia: "We want to reach as many people as possible"

Dubai Sports City (DSC) is using "flexible, competitive and innovative" ticket pricing to reach out to cricket fans throughout the region for this month's WorldCall T-20 Challenge between Pakistan and England, presented by Bank Alfalah.

Grandstand tickets for the opening match of the two-game series at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Friday 19 February have been frozen at the same price as last November's Pakistan - New Zealand series, and start at just AED75.

And for the second match, on Saturday 20 February, the same ticket has been reduced to AED50.

Meanwhile, top-priced Platinum Grandstand tickets have been slashed from their previous mark of AED950 down to AED500 for Friday's action and AED400 for the match on Saturday.

Explaining the pricing policy, DSC General Manager - Sports Business Maqbul Dudhia said: "When it comes to the pricing of the tickets for the WorldCall T-20 Challenge presented by Bank Alfalah, our strategy has been simple - to reach as many people as possible.

"To do that we have sought to be flexible, competitive and innovative and we believe that with these prices we have achieved that aim.

"Both Pakistan and England have large and passionate followings within the region and we believe that these prices will help ensure a high number of fans turn out to create a fantastic and enjoyable atmosphere for the matches.

"We want to see the spectators combine with Dubai Sports City's world-class purpose-built stadium to provide a great platform on which the players of both sides can perform to a high level."

Mr Dudhia said the difference in pricing for the two days was the result of DSC responding to the market.

"Our experience has shown that spectators are more likely to watch a day-night match when they do not have to work the following day," he said.

"We have recognized that, our prices on the Saturday reflect that, and are intended to offer an added incentive for fans to come along and have a great time."

For both sides the series represents their final Twenty20 International (T20I) matches ahead of the ICC World Twenty20 in the Caribbean in April and May, with Pakistan the defending champion having won the previous event in England last June.

Mr Dudhia added: "The matches are a vital part of the two teams' preparations for the ICC World Twenty20 as they look to establish settled patterns of play and combinations. Additionally, players from both teams will work hard to cement their places for the ICC event.

"They will not have another chance to do that after this series so that means we will see two fully-committed line-ups going all out to win the WorldCall T-20 Challenge presented by Bank Alfalah."

Tickets are now available through www.boxofficeme.com, www.ticketingboxoffice.com or by calling +971 4 367 6520.

Details of how and where tickets can be purchased in person will be announced in the near future.

Corporate hospitality packages, using DSC’s impressive collection of corporate hospitality and VIP boxes, are also available and details of how to obtain them can be provided by contacting Ms Ekta Hutton of Dubai Sports City on +971 4 425 1111.

Both matches start at 1800 local time with gates opening at 1500.

Pakistan is the most successful side in T20I history, having won 21 of its 27 matches in this format of the game for a winning percentage of 79.62.  The next best record belongs to South Africa with 65.38 percent win ratio.

England, where the game was launched at domestic level in 2003, has a win percentage of 40.90 having failed to progress beyond the Super Eights stages of the ICC WT20 last year.
